Performing a Factory Reset

You can return your phone to its original factory state by performing a factory reset. Resetting your phone erases all data such as phone contacts, call history and downloaded applications, but will not erase data stored on your phone’s microSD card such as photos and music.

Make sure to back up the important data on your phone before performing a factory reset. You can quickly back up your contact and calendar information by syncing your Google and Exchange ActiveSync accounts and by connecting your phone to your computer and running HTC Sync.

Perform a factory reset by following the steps below:

  1. Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings > Security > Factory data reset.
  2. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything. Your phone will erase all personal data and restart. It may take a few minutes for the process to complete.

You can also perform a factory reset by using the phone buttons. When the phone is turned off, press and hold the HOME, END CALL/POWER, and BACK buttons. The reset process will start after a few seconds. When the phone finishes the reset process, press MENU.
